Advocating for a Safe, Permanent Home for Each Child.
“Being a CASA has been one of the most rewarding and exciting times of my life. Just being there to see some of our young troubled teens turn their lives around touches your heart in a very special way."
Norma Giles, CASA Volunteer since 2008
“My work with CASA has been most rewarding. I find especially gratifying that my only agenda is the best interest of the child. Getting to know these children and advocating on their behalf has been a soul enriching experience for me.”
Denise Thibaudeau, CASA Volunteer since 2009
Each year in Georgia there are over 6000 children in the legal custody of the state. Many of these children become caught in a legal and child welfare system where they spend years moving one from temporary home to another. This is where you can help. Become a Court Appointed Special Advocate and speak up for the best interests of these children.
CASA volunteers are appointed by a judge to recommend the best possible outcome for an abused or neglected child’s future. Whether this means helping the child to connect with adoptive parents or safely reuniting the child with parents or relatives, the ultimate goal of the CASA volunteer is to help ensure that every one of these children can live in a safe, permanent home.
You don’t have to be a lawyer or social worker to be a volunteer or social worker to be a CASA volunteer. We’re looking for people with a sincere desire to help abused children. As a Court Appointed Special Advoccate, you’ll receive training from professionals in the legal and welfare fields, and you’ll have the complete support of your CASA organization to help you through each case.
CASA volunteers review records, research information and talk to everyone involved – social workers, attorneys, judges, parents, teachers, family members, and of course, the children themselves. Volunteers then present their recommendation to the court as to what they feel is best for the child. Judges rely heavily on this testimony to make an informed decision o the child’s future.
Become a CASA volunteer and be rewarded with some of the most powerful and fulfilling experiences you can find. CASA is the only organization that empowers everyday citizens as appointed officers of the court. Your involvement will make a direct impact on a child’s life and perhaps for generations to come.
We welcome volunteers from all cultures, professions, ethnic and educational backgrounds.
You can also stand up for abused children by making a donation. You will be supporting CASA volunteers in their efforts to help some of our most vulnerable children. Please also consider supporting and participating in the fundraising events and promotions held by Advo-Kids CASA in order to sustain advocacy operations. All contributions are very much appreciated and help more abused children find a caring CASA volunteer.
